lessons on how to play each song.  Each song introduces various
interesting jazz topics and techniques so you can learn how to
quickly apply the various jazz concepts in a real life setting. Just
like all of the Play Like Me DVD products, the Holiday Collection is
perfect for all levels of student and piano player.  

You'll start with basic jazz versions of Oh, Christmas Tree, What
Child is This, Auld Lang Syne, and Silent Night, and then move on
to more challenging arrangements for the rest of the songs.  This
allows you to progress at your own pace.”  Each song introduces
various jazz concepts such as chord substitutions, passing chords,
added-tones, Gospel chords, jazz endings, walking bass lines and
basic improvisation techniques.

The package includes over 7 hours of instruction on six standard  
DVDs.  Bill shows you how to build the chords and play the melody
for each measure of the Holiday songs.  On-screen annotation
highlights each note of the chord as its played.  Interactive menus
enable the students to easily repeat specific measures, or select
individual lessons or songs.  The DVD also lets students practice
along with Bill as he plays through each lesson of the song.

The accompanying books include all of the sheet music for each
song.  The sheet music is presented in standard lead sheet format
to help the student learn to effectively play from fake books or lead
sheets.  The book also provides lesson notes for each and an
introductory chord tutorial that takes the student through each step
in building basic jazz chords such as the major 7th, minor 7th and
dominant 7th chords on the piano using Bill’s open-position chord
method.
